The team members at the National Training and Research Collaborative (NTC) are dedicated to integrating their passion and clinical expertise in evidence-based research and personalized health practices. They are part of a professional network focused on developing a transformational model of practice that is founded on the principles of caring, personal strengths, and practical wisdom in medicine.


Cathy Snapp, PhD
Dr. Cathy Snapp is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the UGA School of Medicine and the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership in Athens, GA. She serves as Campus Director of Behavioral Health and Director of the Office of Personalized Health and Well-Being for both undergraduate and graduate medical education. Over a 25-year career, Dr. Snapp has led the development of nationally and internationally delivered mindfulness-based and resilience-focused models of whole-person health, supported by more than $8 million in state and federal grant funding. She leads a national collaborative translating emerging science in systems resilience and co-developed the Mindfulness-Based Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (MBTLC) and Path2Green programs. In 2023, Path2Green was awarded and nationally recognized by the CDC as a national resilience model for the CDC Foundation’s “Build Healthier Communities by 2030 Challenge.”

Geralyn Russell, BS, RRT, RYT-500
Founder of The Sense8 Studio shares programs and techniques helpful for growth and well-being. She brings her passion and experience as an Attitudinal Healing Facilitator and Trainer, Certified Somatic Yoga Educator, SMC® Certified Exercise Instructor, Certified Forgiveness Facilitator and Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach to The Sense8 Studio for Balanced Living and facilitates all sessions at the studio.
Geralyn is the co-developer of the Path2Green, an award-winning Emotional Resilience Training Program for greater well-being and lasting change offered through the Medical College of Georgia's AU/UGA Medical Partnership, and for 10+ years at the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program and Florida State University College of Medicine. She leads resilience training for medical students, residents, faculty, physicians, nurses, healthcare employees as well as public health populations, having trained over 3,000 participants. She continues as Developer, Consultant and Trainer for Path2Green.
Geralyn's career includes sales and management for Fortune 500 companies for over 20 years. As a lifelong learner, she has advanced training in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, 500-hour Yoga Certification and T-Touch for Animals. She is grateful to live in Florida with her husband, Andy, and dogs, Bogi and Charley, surrounded by nature.

Michael Stone, MD, MS
Peter Michael Stone, MD, MS, FAAFP, DABFM, is a clinician, principal investigator in clinical research, educator, and internationally recognized lecturer specializing in nutrition adequacy and strategies to improve health, functional capacity, and disease trajectory across the lifespan. His work integrates functional and systems medicine with emerging science in nutrition, metabolomics, and personalized nutrigenomics.
Dr. Stone serves as Senior Advisor in the Office of Personalized Health and Well-Being at the University of Georgia School of Medicine in Athens, Georgia, and is faculty with the Institute for Functional Medicine. He also holds an international senior advisory role with the Department of Research and Innovation at Ateneo School of Medicine in Manila, Philippines. As an instructor in functional and systems medicine, he has contributed extensively to clinician education and interdisciplinary training.
For decades, Dr. Stone’s insurance-based clinical practice has focused on improving pregnancy outcomes through developmental programming of health, emphasizing early-life nutrition and metabolic optimization to reduce long-term disease risk. His work has been influential in advancing prevention-focused, personalized approaches to maternal and family health.
In recognition of his contributions to the field, Dr. Stone received the 2019 Linus Pauling Award in Functional Medicine from the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Dr. Stone earned his Bachelor of Science (1980) and Master of Science (1982) degrees from Washington State University. He completed medical school at the University of Washington in 1987, followed by a Family Medicine residency and fellowship at UCLA–Ventura, completed in 1990 and 1991.

Angela D Mazza, DO, ABAARM, FAAMFM, ECNU
Dr. Angela D. Mazza is a triple board-certified physician in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism; Internal Medicine; and Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. She completed her fellowship in Anti-Aging, Metabolic, and Functional Medicine through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and is certified by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) in neck ultrasound and diagnostic thyroid biopsies.
A recognized thyroid specialist, Dr. Mazza holds Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) and specializes in radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for thyroid nodules. She is the founder of the Metabolic Center for Wellness in Oviedo, Florida, where she focuses on the care of patients with autoimmune thyroid disease, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer. Her center is the only practice in Central Florida offering thyroid-sparing RFA procedures.
Dr. Mazza has an extensive research background in both basic and clinical endocrinology and has served as principal investigator and sub-investigator on multiple large-scale diabetes therapy and medical device trials. Her research has resulted in numerous publications and national and international presentations.

Ruth DeBusk, PhD, RDN
For over 15 years, Ruth DeBusk has served as Co-Principal Investigator with Dr. Snapp in developing and implementing resiliency and well-being programs for the healthcare workforce, reaching physicians, trainees, interprofessional teams, and patients. Her contributions include scientific and clinical expertise; curriculum development; teaching; and research in nutrition, genomics, and epigenetics. Her work integrates neuroplasticity, heart–brain emotional regulation, and nutrition- and lifestyle-based strategies to promote sustainable resilience. Dr. DeBusk has extensive experience in clinical practice, academic leadership, biotechnology entrepreneurship, and genetic test development. She is the author of 25 peer-reviewed publications, four books, and 11 book chapters.
